Only 8 girls will be selected to be on the BUMPUS 6th Grade GEMS Team.
What is GEMS?

GEMS
Girls Engaged in Math and Science (GEMS) is an educational program designed to actively involve girls in STEM-related activities through formal and informal learning environments.  The GEMS Program supports the national need to close the STEM gender gap utilizing eight teaching strategies to encourage self-confidence and elevate interest in the areas of math and science with female students.  GEMS teacher practices focus on these strategies to strengthen girls’ beliefs regarding their abilities in math and science.

#CommunityService

If your child loves to do community service we want to know! Community service is unpaid volunteer work that helps a citizen or the community. Community service hours must be completed outside of school hours. Students who have completed 60 hours or more between May 1, 2019 and May 1, 2020 will receive a community service medal at the Awards Day Assembly in May. Please record the hours on the orange card that can be found outside of the main office or in Mrs. Wilson's room, A325. The community service cards are due no later than May 4, 2020. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Austin Wilson at awilson@hoover.k12.al.us.
