Welcome and First Day Message From Dr. Maddox.
Good Afternoon,
A few reminders to help you make tomorrow the start of our best year ever! Tomorrow marks the 20th opening for Bumpus Middle School and we're excited to see what the 2019-2020 school term brings.
Our doors open at 7:30 am.Carpool students cannot exit their vehicles until the 7:30 bell.
Tomorrow students will be supervised before school in the two gyms and in the cafeteria.
We will go to Homeroom as we begin our day. On a regular day, we begin with 1st period.

Updated schedules will distributed in HR.We will have parent volunteers to assist with lockers and during the lunch cycles. We dismiss at 3:15.

Meet Your 6-1 Teachers
Ashlyn Etheredge
Language Arts
This will be my third
year teaching at Bumpus and my second year teaching 6th grade. I have a
bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from the University of South Alabama,
and certifications to teach Social Studies and Language Arts. I also coach
cheer here at Bumpus and gymnastics outside of the school. I spend all of my
free time with my four-year-old son, Ezra! Our family loves staying very active
and visiting the beach as much as possible. Can't wait to meet you all!
Cindy Simmons
Math
I
have taught middle school math for 24 years and the last 20 years have been at
Bumpus Middle School. I attended Samford University and earned a B.S. in
Elementary Education and a Middle School Math Endorsement. I have two daughters
that are in 7th and 10th grade. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time
with my family and friends, reading, Pinterest projects, and cooking. Being a Florida native, my college football
chants are split between ̈Go Noles!" and ̈Roll Tide!¨

Science
I
hope you are going to love middle school as much as I do! This is my 23rd year
of teaching! 19 of those years have been in 6th grade Science as a Hoover Buc!
I am a National Board Certified Teacher! I have a bachelor’s degree in
Elementary Education from UAB and a master’s degree from Montevallo. I
also have an endorsement certificate for Secondary science. I have two amazing sons! Matthew lives in
Madison, Wisconsin working on a PhD in Genetics. Michael lives in Hoover and is
a Logistics Broker. Both graduated from the Hoover school system and with
Honors from Bama! (RTR!) Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my
family, friends and our dog, Scooby! I love the beach and the mountains
Matthew Sutter
Social Studies
This will be my fifth
year teaching at Bumpus and my second year teaching 6th grade. I have a
bachelor’s degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from Auburn University
and a master’s degree in the same area from the University of West
Alabama. I also coach boys and girls tennis here at Bumpus. My free time is spent with my wife, Amanda
and our daughter, Hallie Cate who just turned ONE in June! Looking forward to a
great year here at Bumpus!
